to inspire fulfillment and promote joy through engagement, participation, and fun
Low Gravity, Inc., a Hawaii 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, was formed to inspire fulfillment and promote joy through engagement, participation, and fun. Working in partnership with local organizations, Low Gravity creates opportunities for individuals and groups within our community to engage in creative, fun, and educational experiences.
what we do
The ‘Oli ‘Oli Club
Focused on our local keiki, the ‘Oli‘Oli Club was formed to foster confidence, self-awareness, and to activate community involvement while having fun through art, mindfulness and service learning.
Through workshops in life-skills, self-expression and creative engagement, our programs promote compassion to self — and to others.
Circus Lolo
Low Gravityʻs first project, Mauiʻs own Circus Lolo, is a short vacation from reality. It is thoughtful yet silly, family-friendly fun.
Circus Lolo is a wonderful exercise for creative engagement. The show is a unique performance that anyone can participate in. It’s super-dooper fun off-the shelf, or with some quick adaptations, is an amazing, customized experience to add to family vacations, destination weddings, and corporate events.
But Circus Lolo has a bigger role. The circus is a vehicle we use to leverage the power of laughter and foster inclusive artistic expression—in visual and theater arts—for the benefit of our Maui community, particularly children and their ohana.
Empowering the next generation
The ‘Oli ‘Oli Club was formed to provide a platform for students to build character and confidence through creativity, self-reflection, and service learning. Our goal is for each member to have a positive, enriching, and fun learning experience.
Mindfulness is reinforced at each club meeting, as students work on art projects, attend off-campus events, or participate in service projects.
Community keiki events
We host free keiki events at South Maui Gardens with activities and creative projects designed to foster stronger connections to themselves, their families, and their community.

Like nothing else ever!
Circus Lolo is a life-size, live-action cartoon parody of a circus. It’s a zany, comedy performance combining brilliant irony with slapstick fun. Over 50 hilarious characters, in an incredible array of crazy costumes, perform wildly imagined circus acts, as Crescendo, the Ringmaster, delivers a non-stop patter of theatrical nuance, crafty alliteration, razor-sharp wit, and well-aged shtick.
NO AUDITIONS REQUIRED!
It only takes the willingness to goof around for a while to qualify for Circus Lolo. That, and we prefer that you own a toothbrush.

THE FOUNDERS
Glenn and Smita Martinez
Glenn was originally trained in fine art, but for most of his career has been a creative consultant specializing in brand strategy, messaging and design. He had a bi-coastal design firm for 20 years, spent time in Silicon Valley, including as global creative director and brand ambassador at Sun Microsystems and senior creative director at Elastic. Throughout his life, Glenn has been a prolific artist and sculptor, working in various mediums, from acrylic to stainless steel—not to mention, recycled cardboard and foam rubber. Circus Lolo is Glennʻs creation.
Early on, Smitaʻs career was focused on employing her marketing and business operations expertise in non-profits and high-tech firms. Twenty years later, she shifted her attention to her passion—children in need—and ran an Intervention Program creating and managing tutoring programs, conducting community outreach and working with students to overcome social and academic challenges. Her program included Enrichment Clubs focused on character building, life skills and community service projects. For Smita, the development and realization of The ‘Oli ‘Oli Club has been a true labor of love.
OUR BOARD
Bob Ayres
Until 2007 Bob sat on the prestigious Board of Advisors for the TED Conference and served for two years as the inaugural Executive Director of The TED PRIZE. Currently he is the CEO of Comedic Ventures, a comedy showcase and development company born out of his infamous 80’s Haight-Ashbury comedy club, The Other Cafe. Bob now runs its associated occasional private salon call TwoDegrees. Most importantly, Bob leans, bats and throws left.
Henry Beaumont
A successful serial entrepreneur, Henry founded his first sound and media company, Golden State Sound, in the early 70’s and served as sound consultant to some off the west coast’s biggest acts and venues. Henry’s current company, PCD is one of California’s largest communications and A/V contractors. Henry also sits on the board of a number of other non-profit organizations, including the Sonoma County Museum of Art.
Jay Anderson
A founding member of Circus Lolo, Jay helped develop the original performance and has worked to nurture and improve the show year after year. Yes, there was that terrible accident when he was Crescendo’s understudy, and the incident with Bubba’s headgear, but while he is no longer allowed near the spray paint, his leotard fits like a glove, so we’re keeping him.
